New Northwest Broadcasting Wins "Business of the Year"
Close to 300 guests enjoyed a Hollywood-style awards show on January 23rd at the 89th Annual Klamath County Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala sponsored by South Valley Bank and Trust. This year, the Chamber moved the event to The Ross Ragland Theater and changed the format from a sit-down formal dinner with keynote to a social gathering and award ceremony with entertainment. "We wanted to give our guests an opportunity to network, mingle, and just enjoy themselves," said Jennifer Sanborn of the Chamber's event committee.
The gala is the time when the Chamber recognizes dedicated efforts on behalf of the Chamber and entire community. Before the gala, Chamber members were asked to nominate businesses and/or individuals who showed support and dedication to our community. From the nominations, a committee selects the winner of each award. This year's awards went to:
- Business of the Year: New Northwest Broadcasting in recognition of their dedication and support to the community.
- Distinguished Service: Klamath Lake Community Action Services for their service to low income residents of Klamath and Lake Counties
- First Citizen: Ken Hay, the City of Klamath Falls Park Superintendent, was honored for his tireless efforts in the Klamath Basin
Chamber President Darin Rutledge honored South Valley Bank and Trust with the 2009 President's Choice Award for their support and dedication to the Chamber as well as the community. Rutledge said, "If you take a look at any service organization in Klamath County, chances are you'll find a South Valley Bank and Trust employee on the board of directors." He went on to thank South Valley for their continued support of the Chamber and its programs.
Chamber Member of the Year was awarded to Servpro of Klamath and Lake Counties. Executive Director Charles Massie said, "Servpro really stepped up this year and sponsored many events including the 4th of July Street Fair and Parade, our Christmas open house, and even our Scarecrow as part of downtown's Scarecrow Row." Massie also thanked Servpro's staff for assisting the Chamber with their move into the new South Portal building.
This year, the Chamber's Military Affairs Committee recognized City Council Member, Bud Hart, with their 2010 Partnership Award.
"An event like this requires a great deal of teamwork and support and I want to thank our event committee, sponsors, and guests for a job well done," said Chamber Executive Director Charles Massie. He added, "Our volunteer committee put in countless hours to make this event a success and it wouldn't have been possible without their help."
