April Focus on the Work Force

Date: April 3rd, 2009, 7:45 to 9 a.m.

Guest Speaker: Jan Swander, Workforce Analyst

Ms. Swander is the Oregon Employment Department's Workforce Analyst for central and south central Oregon. Her principle responsibility is to provide objective workforce information to central and south Central Oregon businesses. In addition, Jan assists government officials, non-profit agencies, and community groups to develop and interpret socio-economic data for use in their decision-making processes.

Before joining the Employment Department, Jan worked in human resources in the wood products manufacturing and leisure and hospitality industries for many years.

Jan has participated on Central Oregon Society of Human Resource Managers (SHRM) board the past three years. She has volunteered many hours through out the years chairing the impact committee with Deschutes United Way and served many Central Oregon and south Central Oregon's professional and educational boards as a board member and economic resource. Jan and her husband Dave reside in Bend and have one grown daughter who is now serving in the Peace Corp in Madagascar.

Guest Speaker: Sandra Zaida, Community Development Director

Sandra Zaida is the Community Development Director for the City of Klamath Falls. The Community Development Department consists of Parks and Cemeteries, Land Use Planning, Code Enforcement, Downtown Urban Renewal and Parking, and Business Licensing. Sandra started her career as a land use planner with the city in 1998 after moving from San Luis Obispo, California where she was the County's Park Planner. Prior to graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with an MBA, specializing in Agricultural Business, and a Bachelor's in Landscape Architecture, she resided in Santa Barbara, California. She has served on the board for the Oregon Chapter of the American Planning Association and is the past-president for the Oregon City Planning Directors Association board.

The Breakfast with the President series is scheduled monthly and features the Klamath County Chamber of Commerce President Darin Rutledge and a guest speaker. These meetings are designed to provide Chamber members an opportunity to meet with local, regional, and national leaders and discuss the issues that affect you and your business. This opportunity is exclusive to Chamber members and space will be limited to facilitate an open, frank discussion.
