Grant Writing 101 Workshop

December 2008

In November, the Klamath County Chamber of Commerce teamed up with Trish Seiler and the Klamath Community College to offer Grant Writing 101. The workshop was a great success. One of the participants, Belinda Stewart from the Klamath Water Users Association, said the workshop was very helpful. She said, "Trish was a very knowledgeable instructor and gave us pointers for finding and applying for grants. The most useful part of the class was the attempts we made at writing sections of a sample grant. Trish was able to give us constructive criticism about our samples which was very helpful. I also learned about some publications that will be helpful for building a stronger board of directors which is an integral part of successful grant funding, implementation and follow through. I have already begun ordering materials to help our organization succeed in future grants we may pursue."

If you missed the November date, you still have the opportunity to attend. The Chamber has scheduled the course again for January 17th, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The course was developed by The Grantsmanship Center of Los Angeles and effectively communicates the components of successful grant proposals. Trish has nearly 30 years of professional grant writing experience that will provide you with inside information on the grants process. When you attend this seminar you will learn:

  • Basic principles of grant writing
  • Materials needed for grant research and proposal writing
  • How to write the all-important cover letter
  • Composing the summary
  • Writing an attention-getting introduction
  • Effectively communicating your problems and needs
  • Detailing your program objectives
  • Outlining your methods
  • Successfully presenting your evaluation
  • Compiling and presenting your budget figures

The cost for Chamber members is $80, non-members $100. Sign up quickly — space is limited and the roster is filling up quickly. Contact the Chamber at 541.884.5193 for more details.
