Wingwatchers Installs New Trail Sign

June 6th, 2008

Klamath Wingwatchers (KWW) is a local, nonprofit birding group established in 1987, dedicated to public education regarding Klamath Basin wildlife and wetland habitat, and their value as a natural resource, through scientific, arts, and cultural means. The group seeks new members and volunteers of all ages and backgrounds.

KWW is involved with many local projects and partners. They operate and maintain the 1.1 mile-long Nature Trail at the end of Main Street, along Lake Ewauna, partnering with Integral Youth Services. They updated the "Interpretive Guide to the Link River Trail", partnering with Pacific Power Foundation & Klamath Falls City Schools. They sponsor "Pelicans on Parade" (POP!), an art fundraiser seen in many venues, including Third Thursday. They sponsor Klamath Basin Birding Trail (KBBT) Working Group projects, partnering with Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuges, OIT, Klamath Bird Observatory in Ashland, OSU Klamath Basin Research & Extension Center, & Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation. KWW is a partner in the production of the Winter Wings Festival with Klamath Basin Audubon Society, and Migratory Bird Day with OSU Extension. Future endeavors will include liaison with the South Portal project, and birding film projects in the Klamath Basin.
