There’s some shake-up happening here at the Chamber and we’re excited about where we’re headed. As we make announcements about our new focus over the next few months, we think you’ll be excited too.
To begin with, you may hear about changes to two events: the Snowflake Parade/Festival and the 4th of July celebrations. After much discussion, we identified two outstanding organizations to take on the organization, planning, and management of these events.
The American Legion Post 8 has taken on the Snowflake Parade/Festival this year. They’ve been identifying sponsors, adding some exciting events to the lineup, and will manage the parade. We’re excited for the energy and focus they’ll bring to the Festival.
The Klamath Falls Gems will coordinate and host next year’s Independence Day Celebration. The Gems staff will plan, coordinate, and fundraise for the event. The Gems plan to keep the event family-friendly and similar to the Jamboree with a parade and fireworks.
The Chamber will maintain a supportive role in marketing and advising both events as requested to help ensure the continued success.
You may be asking why these changes. Basically, it’s to focus on the things important to you (our members). You may remember a survey we sent out a few months ago. We asked you what Chamber activities were most important to you. The top three activities you wanted us to focus on were:
- Support local economic development efforts;
- Provide networking opportunities; and
- Promote your business to the community and outside world.
We took the results of that survey and have been using them to focus on benefits, activities, and support that will help your business succeed. With the changes to these two events, it will allow us the time to focus on economic development, promoting your business, and providing networking opportunities.
Over the next few months, you’ll hear more about our focus and strategy to help your business grow. We’re excited for 2015!
