This is a late personal notice of a visiting speaker, whose topic I thought some of you might find interesting. Richard Jackson and his wife Joan are old friends. When they said they were stopping in KF on their way home from a wedding, we set up an opportunitiy for him to speak here. He is a national and often international speaker in his field, but his interest in designing healthy communities seems to fit well with the health and wellness direction that the city, hospital, public health department and Blue Zones folks have taken. Blue Zones has stepped up to arrange a public talk, even given the short notice. Please pass it along to others as you wish. Thanks!
Please join us Thursday, June 7, from 1-3pm, at the Ross Ragland Cultural Center, in Klamath Falls, OR, for a presentation by national expert Dr. Richard Jackson, UCLA Fielding School of Public Health Professor Emeritus and former Director of the CDC’s National Center for Environmental Health. Dr. Jackson is the author of the books Urban Sprawl and Public Health and Making Healthy Places, as well as the host of the 2012 public television series Designing Healthy Communities. You can view his full bio here: https://ph.ucla.edu/faculty/
Blue Zones Project and local public and private partners are hosting this free event, We are What We Eat…and What We Build. Please see the attached flyer to learn more. RSVP for yourself or your group here: https://goo.gl/forms/
We are looking forward to seeing you next Thursday!
