Opening Ceremony: March 9th, 1pm-3pm
Paintings by well-known Klamath Falls artist George McMahan will be exhibited through March and April in the Klamath County Museum’s Modoc Gallery.
An opening reception for the exhibition will run from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 9, in the museum at 1451 Main St.
McMahan, who grew up in Klamath Falls and died in 2013, worked as an artist and art instructor in Klamath Falls for many years. He operated the Pioneer Gallery.
A number of his paintings remained in is possession at the time of his passing, with some rarely seen in public. Many of those paintings are now being offered for sale through the efforts of Susan Liskey and Donna Woolery, who studied under McMahan.
Proceeds from the art sale will go to McMahan’s widow, Helen McMahan.
The Modoc Gallery is open during regular museum hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission to the gallery is free.
