Discover new books – and new friends – at the Klamath County Library’s Youth Book Club
Monday, May 1st 4pm
Downtown Klamath County Library
Readers ages 8-12 can find new favorite books (and new friends) in the Youth Book Club at the downtown Klamath County Library! We meet at 4 pm on the first Monday of the month (that’s Monday, May 1st). Please note that this will be our last Youth Book Club meeting before we break for the summer.
We’ll be discussing Rules by Cynthia Lord, which is available to pick up now at the Youth Services desk. Twelve-year-old Catherine helps her autistic little brother David navigate life by teaching him rules for interacting with the world around him. These rules range from the practical (Say thank you when someone gives you a present, even if you don’t like it) to the philosophical (Some people think they know who you are, when really they don’t). Catherine longs for a “normal” life – or at least, one that doesn’t revolve around her brother’s behavior. But when she meets two new friends, her own behavior forces her to stop and reevaluate: what is “normal,” anyway…?
