GRAND OPENING CEREMONY FOR EXPANDED DROP-IN CENTER
Youth Rising works to empower our local youth and arm them with resiliency & skill-sets that help them to rise above their circumstances to break cycles and take charge of their future. The drop-in center is the main hub for our youth-led programming & acts as the initial draw or gateway to get youth engaged with us. Our youth-led programs focus on building life, leadership, and employable skills.
The drop-in started as a pilot project with temporary in-kind space that was intended for high school students. Yet, momentum built quickly & so we leased an 800 SF space in January 2017. By September we had served over 3500 middle school and high school youth (350 individuals). We decided to discontinue promoting in the schools as we reached our max capacity in the space.
Due to an unanticipated level of growth in a short period of time, Youth Rising took a leap of faith by leasing our own building. In March will are remodeling and working to relocate to a new 7000 SF building at 729 Main Street. We conservatively estimate serving well over 6000 youth (550 individuals) in the coming year. With this expansion comes growth and needs among programs, staff, and community support. We are also excited to be adding peer support (mental health) services in a non-clinical setting to bridge the gap of growing mental health concerns in the community and across the country. We invite those interested in learning more about where we are headed and how you can get involved to join us for a time to connect, inspire, or be inspired.
