Bookopoly Showdown

saturday, january 20th at 11am

Show off your book trivia skills at “Bookopoly” and win a sweet prize Saturday, January 20th at 11 am at the downtown Klamath County Library.

We’ve set up a Monopoly-style board where players ages 10-18 will be quizzed on a selection of titles for children, youth and teens. (Don’t worry about having to study every single book – we’ll group players into teams the day of the big showdown, so you can pool your brainpower.) Each member of the winning team will take home $5 gift certificates to Lighthouse Yogurt Company!

If you want to study up before the big event, here are the titles we’re drawing trivia from: Little Bear’s Friend by Else Minarik; Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak; Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss; Smile by Raina Telgemeier; The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis; Flora & Ulysses by Kate DiCamillo; The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan; Inside Out and Back Again by Thanhha Lai; Hatchet by Gary Paulsen; Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones; Finding Winnie by Lindsay Mattick; It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini; The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill; Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson; Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling; and a few “mystery book” titles to keep things interesting.

(You don’t have to read all the books, but the more titles on the list that you’re familiar with, the better you can do during the contest. Start reading now and you’ll be bursting with trivia by January 20th!)
